  • 1 cup brown rice

  • 2 cups of water

  • 1 teaspoon salt (optional

Cooking time: The whole time for cooking brown rice requires less than one hour.

Instructions:

  • Soak in water about one cup of brown rice for about an hour and rinse thoroughly to run out all the excessive water. After that pour collectively, rice and double of water in a lid covered pot.
  • Place the pot on a medium-high heat and let the rice to get boil.
  • Add to taste small quantity of salt if required.
  • Wait until the rice water is fully boiled.
  • On boiling, lower the heat to medium-low, cover the pot with lid and leave the rice to seethe for not more than 20 minutes; so that excessive water is gradually immersed in rice. It is advised never to stir the rice while seething; otherwise, rice may be mashed.
  • Switch off the heat and cover the rice tightly with lid for further 10 minutes to make these chewy and delicious.
    1. After that uncover the rice and whisk completely to know if there is excessive liquid remaining in rice.
    2. Serve the cooking brown rice at once or after cooling for half an hour.


  • Cooking brown rice needs a bit more effort, but yet are healthy enough than white rice.
